Gravity Feed & Atmospheric Vessels

Pressureless stainless steel vessels, 2–16.5 L, in 304 or 316.

Capacity
2 / 7.5 / 16.5 litres
Material
304 stainless (316 optional)
Valve
¼″ NPT stainless ball valve

Not every process needs pressure. SR-TEK PL Series pressureless vessels feed fluids by gravity through a stainless steel ball valve. They are made from 2 mm thick stainless steel 304 — or 316 on request — so the contents cannot corrode the vessel or become contaminated.

Gravity feed vs pressure feed

LET GRAVITYDO THE WORK.

Choose by how your fluid needs to move. If it flows freely to an outlet below the vessel, pressure adds nothing but equipment.

  • SR-TEK 2000ML-PL stainless steel gravity feed vessel with a ball valve

    PL Series pressureless vessel

    Gravity feed

    • The fluid flows out under its own weight
    • No compressed air, regulator or pressure rating
    • The outlet sits below the vessel
    • Best for free-flowing, low viscosity fluids
  • Stainless steel SR-TEK pressure vessel with a blue pressure regulator and gauge

    Pressure vessel

    Pressure feed

    • Compressed air pushes the fluid out
    • Moves viscous fluids and feeds long lines
    • Controlled, adjustable flow rate
    • Regulator, gauge and safety relief valve

Construction and options

BUILT LIKE OUR PRESSURE VESSELS.

The same stainless construction and the same options as our pressure vessels — without the pressure.

Custom stainless build
  1. 2 mm stainless steel body

Stainless steel body and lid, 304 as standard with 316 and a different surface finish on request.

  2. Stainless steel ball valve

¼″ NPT ball valve as standard, with a ½″ NPT valve available for a larger outlet.

  3. Air-powered agitation

An air motor with a choice of mixing blades keeps the fluid moving without pressurising the vessel.

  4. Level monitoring

Low level float switch or contactless level detection, so you know before the feed runs dry.

  5. Larger and custom versions

Standard sizes of 25, 50 and 100 litres made to order, plus special versions for specific requirements.

Gravity feed vessel FAQ

TECHNICALQUESTIONS.

  • What is a gravity feed vessel used for?

A gravity feed vessel holds a fluid above the point of use and lets it flow out under its own weight through a valve at the outlet. It suits low viscosity fluids that do not need pressure to move — for example feeding a process line or a dispensing station from above.

  • When should I choose a pressureless vessel over a pressure vessel?

When gravity is enough to deliver the flow you need. If the fluid runs freely and the outlet sits below the vessel, a pressureless vessel is simpler: no compressed air, regulator or pressure rating to manage. Choose a pressure vessel when the fluid is viscous, has to be pushed through a long line or must be delivered at a controlled rate.

  • Which accessories can be fitted to an atmospheric vessel?

A ½″ NPT stainless steel ball valve in place of the standard ¼″ NPT valve, agitation from an air-powered motor with a choice of mixing blades, a low level float switch, contactless level detection and additional ports. Special and custom versions can be made for specific requirements.
